Cherry Poppins Trail

We cleaned up Cherry Poppins today, cutting out the windfall, raking off the winter debris, and making all sorts of adjustments. This tree had fallen down the line of the trail, so we trimmed it into a basic log-ride with the chainsaw. We re-established the tread down the steep section just above Tiger Main, and [...]

Walking to work.

Sometimes trail building can seem like breaking rocks on the chain gang, but it has it’s moments, and walking down the Whiskey trail on a clear crisp morning was one of them. I love the perspective of Rossland that you get from here – our little village nestled in the mountains.

Culvert on Kootenay Columbia

Blogging the activities of the trail crew is a bit of an experiment, but I’m hoping it’ll be a great way to let trail users know what we’re doing out there. The full crew starts next week, but Cam and I have been out chain-sawing through windfall on Curly’s, Larry’s, Moes, Full Monte, Techno-Grind, Kootenay [...]

Fruita Fat Tire Festival

I’m just back from the Fruita Fat Tire Festival in Fruita Colorado. Troy Rarrick moved to Fruita 13 years ago, bought a funky old building downtown, set up a bike shop in a town with no trails, and started digging. Now Fruita has a huge variety of some of the finest single-track bike trails anywhere, [...]
