Hi I just wanted to let you know that while running Drakes today (and accessing it up the road from the Lion’s Campground) we came across workers from Atco lumber who were gating off the road and had dug up the access trail to Drakes. One of the workers informed us that they are gating any property owned by Atco Lumber and will be ripping up trails. He also mentioned the mountain above Oasis and around Murphy Creek. I am not sure how this came about but wanted to find out why this is happening after all this time. The trails on Deer Park Mountain have been around forever. Has something recently changed? Hopefully this can be solved and we can get back out there.

Thanks for the info. We were aware that the private land-owner, Ted Nelson of Fruitvale, is dead against public trail use on his property and has aggressively resisted any attempts to persaude him otherwise.We have planned for an alternate route around his property in the case of this sort of action, and will now move to establish that new section of trail.
