Whiskey Trail Update

I’ve had quite a few calls and e-mails regarding the destruction of the “carpet jump” and felling of trees across the trail on the lower Whiskey trail. After checking into it, it seems that a new tennant on an adjacent property didn’t understand the situation and was responding to perceived trespassers. After a friendly chat it now seems to be resolved (there’ll be a few more signs in place) and we’ll rebuild things as before when we get a chance.

  • Hey Stew.

In the whiskey neigbourhood, can I ask about the status of Crown Point, Stunted Growth, and the new “Tamarack” connector?

    thanks,

    steve

    • Steve,

Crown Point is open. We’ve built a new section through the lower clear-cut, and I rode it last night – still soft but fun. We haven’t had a chance to work on Stunted, but will soon. Make sure you get out for Trails day this Saturday, as we’ll be trying to finish Tamarack. The more bodies we get, the closer we’ll get to finishing – so remind all your friends.

      Stewart.

      • Thanks for the update Stew. Great news about Crown Point.

I’ve got relatives in town this weekend, so I can’t make trails day, which sucks. But I would love to help on that trail. If there is anything left undone after saturday, please let me know. If it doesn’t get finished, maybe you could schedule a second day the next weekend???

  • Yesterday came across a tree down across Whiskey in the lower section. Someone had propped a section of what was probably the old carpet drop up over it, but that was not fastened down at all, and is shaky…

It’s in the section through the newish (2 yrs old?) clearcut.

  • We cleaned up stunted growth on sunday. There were a number of logs down (which are now cut through or moved) and there were, of course, the usual smaller branches to clear off the trail. There is also a new clearcut maybe 3/4 of the way down across which we carved a rideable path.
